Christmas is on the way!

Well, the shopping season is upon us and it’s getting to be crunchtime around here.  As a result, my posting has been a bit slow this last week.  I’ve got some great topics in the hopper though, including the revolt against FDR which I’m working on, as well as the student strike at Berkley in the early 40’s (who said all of this started in the 60’s?).

With all of the headlines the automobile makers from Detroit have been grabbing lately, I thought it would be great to post something I found on the Internet Archive for everyone to take a look at.

If you are familiar with Dinah Shore, you may or may not be aware of the advertising campaigns she did with Chevrolet in the Fifties.  Extremely popular, these campaigns did much to help Chevrolet sales.

One of the biggest was her singing of the tune, “See The USA In Your Chevrolet”.  In actuality, this tune was performed earlier, being written in the late, late 40’s.

Here’s the show from the Internet Archive:

(@ 10:29 is where Dinah starts the song…but the rest is good as well!)

Have a great weekend, see you sometime this next week.  Don’t forget the new Picture of the Month!–>
